Folk Dance Competition

The Hamsadhwani hall in Singhania School was witness to India’s rich cultural heritage as students of grade 9 competed in the Inter-house Folk Dance Competition held on 2nd September.Folk dances celebrate the diversity of our land, reflecting the joys and struggles of daily life.Folk music and dance unite people and serve as medium of expression and spiritual upliftment in an otherwise mundane existence of daily chores.An ode to the supreme Goddess was offered by the folk dance from Bengal, the Gondhal from Maharashtra and the Kolattam from AndhraPradesh. Asserting the fact that our language, culture and customs may be varied but our undaunting faith in the Supreme Being unites us.The lively banter between the Punjabi womenfolk in Gidda, as they work in the field or tend to cattle, reflect how music and dance can turn an otherwise tedious task, fun with friends.Singers and dancers performed extremely well with lively songs, colorful costumes, well choreographed and synchronized dance. It was indeed a mesmerizing experience to witness a Kaleidoscope of such vibrant cultures- That’s INDIA
